DIET, Bhadrak is one of the 30 DIETs established in the state Odisha under TE & SCERT following the recommendations of NPE 1986.
The present District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), Bhadrak, Agarpada had its inception in the year 1960 as the Secondary Training School, Agarpada, Bhadrak to fulfill the demand of the elementary teacher education of the undivided Balasore District. The Institute was upgraded to the DIET in the year 2005 after formation of new district, i.e. Bhadrak. Since then it has been functioning properly providing different refresher trainings to the elementary teachers of the district for their professional development. The institute comprises seven branches, out of which pre-service is one of them. The student’s strength of pre-service course named as Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed.) has been increased from 50 to 100 seats in the year vide letter No- ERC/7-16, dated 09.111.2012, 33/NCTE/D.El.Ed.-Additional Intake / 2014/24208, dated 24.02.2014 of NCTE. As per the demand of the district for secondary teachers, B.Ed. course is opened in the DIET in the year 2016 after verification of NCTE team. The strength of students of B.Ed. course is 50, which is affiliated with Fakir Mohan University, Balasore, as per the NCTE norms with collaboration of Govt. of Odisha.
