College insignia

This Institute came into existence in 1968 in the District of Balangir with an intention to extend the facility of teacher education pursuing B.Ed. courses. In conformity with recommendation of the National Policy on Education (1986), Govt. training college, Balangir was upgraded to the status of a College of Teacher Education (CTE) with effect from 01.04.1988 in pursuance of the sanction order of Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India. Since then, this Institute has been functioning as a pace-setting center in the field of Teacher Education

This Under-Graduate College is recognized by National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), New Delhi and affiliated to Sambalpur University offering B.Ed. courses as a part of its pre-service Teacher Education programmes. After up gradation, apart from pre-service training, this institution is involved in delivering of pedagogic skills to the secondary school teachers for qualitative improvement of education through In-service Education, Extension education & Research in Education. The intake capacity in B.Ed. 1st. year is 100 and in B.Ed. 2nd. Year is also 100.

Institute is also provide hostel facilities for the students. It has two hostels, Gent’s hostel with intake of 60 students and Ladies hostel of 60 students. There are two Superintendents appointed by the Principal for both hostels to look after the day to day activities of the hostel. Admission to both the hostels are done by the Principal as per the merit.

Institute has an audio-visual laboratory equipped with latest technology including sound system, V.C.P, V.C.R, educational discs, overhead projectors, television, computer and L.C.D projector.

The college has a well furnished and well equipped library. It is managed by a Librarian.  At present 16000 books are in the Library.
