District Institute of Education and Training, DIET in ,Cuttack, conduct a two-year Diploma in Elementary Teacher Education where most students are senior secondary pass outs at entry level. They are from all streams of +2 educations, heterogeneous in terms of culture, language and intellectual level etc. There are 100 students taken admission at DIET,in entry level . They get absorbed as primary teachers with ODISHA Govt. after the two-year programme. District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), Cuttack establihed on July 1990 as a Centrally Sponsored Scheme of Government of India, Ministry of Human Resource Development, under the administrative control of State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Cuttack, as an apex body at the state level. It has been established as a pace setting institution with the objective to bring qualitative and quantitative enrichment in elementary, adult and non-formal education in the Central district, through conduction of research, experiments, training, material development and providing resource support. Since its establishment, DIET Cuttack is constantly engaged in achieving these objectives.

            This is an institute that captures the multi-faceted personality of the elementary education visionaries. The institute performs a wide range of academic activities with the idea of development of a complete personality, self-discipline, spirit of co-operation, innovative ideas, scientific temper and missionary zeal which are the necessary part of studies. The institute is being run with the initial in-take of 100 students.

DIET, central is responsible for the Best Practices by designing a yearly calendar for ensuring planned work in the area of planning, training, research and material development and also conducting the programmes as planned, DIET also provides academic resources input for the Dstrict authorities and state Departments.

Besides, this institute conduct two years B.P.Ed course.
